A FILM producer who recreated Dick Turpin's fabled overnight ride from Epping to York by bicycle is on the lookout for aspiring actors to join his cast.

Dale Nichol completed the 209-mile journey from Epping High Street to the highwayman's grave in York last year in a bid to raise money and publicity for his film, Dick Turpin and the Gregory Gang.

Now the 50-year-old, who runs his own production company, is almost ready to set the cameras rolling - and is seeking local actors to take roles in front of and behind the camera.

Mr Nichol said: "People will be paid. I'm not Spielberg, but it's a genuine project that I've been working on for 11 years.

"It's absolutely vital to me to keep authenticity. I would love to have people from the Epping Forest area in the film."

Auditions will be held in Mr Nichol's home town of Doncaster - but much of the filming will take place in Epping Forest.

He hopes to start production in January, with a release date set for autumn 2014.

He is seeking actors, costume designers, wig makers, joiners, prop makers, set designers, musicians, camera and sound engineers.

  • Auditions will take place on Sunday December 2 at The Lonsdale, Intake, Doncaster DN2 5HY from 11am to 7pm. For more information contact Mr Nichol on 07944 730013 or email dalentertainment@btopenworld.com.
