Santa Claus to parade through streets of Debden in inaugural parade organised by Loughton Town Council

First published in News by

SAINT Nick will be doing the rounds next week to bring Christmas cheer to Debden's doorsteps.

Working with community groups, churches and schools, Loughton Town Council has called in a favour from Santa - who will be touring the town's streets in a decorated horse-drawn carriage on on Wednesday December 5.

Residents are invited to follow the parade, join in carols or simply wave from their doors.

Father Christmas will be collecting for the Silkworth Trust Food Bank, based in Langston Road, and the Chigwell Riding Trust for Special Needs.

If this pilot project is well received, the council plans to roll it out across the town next year.

Santa's route will begin and end in Vere Road, taking in Willingale Road, The Broadway, Burney Drive and Jessel Drive among others en route.

Cllr Leon Girling says...

Thank you Katie and the team at The Guardian for helping us promote a great local festive event.
Families young and old greeted us as Santa and his team made their way across parts of Debden. Children from local nurseries and after school clubs handed Santa some artwork and many residents waved from outside their homes. Well done Debden you did Santa proud.
