THE COUNCIL is to remove all of its plastic and can banks from recycling sites across the district.
Epping Forest District Council made the decision following a fall in the number of residents using the banks.
The authority said doorstep collection of recycling in clear sacks had been a 'huge success', with materials deposited in banks now accounting for just for 0.04 per cent of all recycling collected.
The reduction in use means the cost of maintaining the containers and paying for collection now outweighs the benefits of the banks.
- Anyone experiencing problems with the doorstep collection service can call the council on 01992 564608.
