POLICE are trying to track down a van used by a group believed to have broken into three shops in one night.
Two men smashed their way through the front doors of Senners newsagents and the post office in Ongar High Street shortly before 3am on Wednesday November 28.
In both incidents the burglars tried to steal cigarettes, but were unable to break open the security cabinets they were stored in.
A number of residents dialled 999, but a police helicopter search found no trace of the men.
Police believe the same group went on to break into Martin's Newsagent in Pyrles Lane, Debden, a short time later, stealing cigarettes.
Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of the van captured in this CCTV image, which has the registration number E012 RXY.
Anyone with information in connection with these burglaries is asked to contact investigating officers at Ongar police station on 101.
