THE Mayor of Redbridge joined the leader of the council to unveil a plaque to mark the renaming of a popular open space today.
Councillor Muhammed Javed and Keith Prince were at Barkingside Recreation Ground in Mossford Green, Barkingside, which has been renamed Queen Elizabeth II Field, Barkingside Recreation Ground.
It is one of five open spaces in the borough to be given the royal prefix in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.
The scheme sees Redbridge Council make a commitment to guarantee protection of the site.
As part of the ceremony children planted some spring bulbs at the site.
