THE online auction of a painting has raised £200 for a homeless person charity.

Artist Paul Cates of Chingford Lane, Woodford Green, decided to sell his work Books vs Kindle on eBay to raise money for Shelter.

The painting has been on display at the Village Bookshop in High Road, Woodford Green, for the past few weeks.

Customers were invited to comment on whether the prefer books or digital forms of literature.

Mr Cates's next project will be a series of paintings on the theme of commuting.
