A SPATE of burglaries marred Christmas celebrations after sheds were broken into.

Five break-ins were reported on Christmas Day and Boxing Day by households in Studley Avenue, Highams Park.

Three bicycles were taken in total, along with other equipment.

The Met believes those responsible used a ladder to cross a stream at the rear of the properties to access the sheds.

Sergeant Lee Palmer said: "Please remain vigilant and wherever possible lock and secure your outbuilding and garages. If at all possible, fit sensor lighting at the rear of your premises.

"This will deter any night time burglars. We will be patrolling in the area so don't hesitate to call if you see anything suspicious."
