FUNDING is available for voluntary groups committed to improving the quality of life in Walthamstow.

Community group Wood Street First has £8,500 of government funding to spend on projects which aim to benefit people living in Wood Street ward.

Voluntary groups can access between £250 and £2,500 of the total amount provided by the Community Development Foundation for their project if it addresses one of five criteria.

Thse are crime prevention, improving the environment, activities for young people, activities for old people and improving the lives of children and young people.

However, the projects must be able to match the funding they receive with income from other sources, or by providing an equivalent value of donated goods or volunteer time for the initiative.

All applications must be submitted by Monday, February 4, to the email address on the form available on woodstreetfirst.org.

The winning projects will be chosen by Wood Street First at a meeting on Tuesday, February 12.
