A thief who absconded while released from prison on licence has been arrested.

Thomas Edward Evans, 27,  of Chingford Lane in Woodford Green, was jailed for two-and-a-half years in September 2010 after breaking into a number of automated ticket machines at railway stations.

He disappeared after being released on licence in April last year.

Police issued an appeal for assistance in tracing him in December.

He was arrested on January 3.
