The bicentenary of a landmark court case in which the people of Wanstead fought to keep Wanstead Park open will be marked with a talk.

Greg Roberts of the Wanstead Historical Society will give a talk entitled Wanstead Park 1813: Privacy versus public enjoyment, at Wanstead Library in Spratt Hall Road.

Mr Roberts is doing a PhD at Queen Mary University and is researching the history of Wanstead House.

His talk will focus on the legal battle between William Long-Wellesley and residents of Wanstead over access to the park.

The talk takes place on February 21 at 8pm.
