A boy was hit by a car outside his school.
It happened by Coppermill Primary School in Walthamstow just after 3.30pm today (Friday January 11).
Ward councillor Mahmood Hussain witnessed the crash.
He said: "The little boy had just come out of school. He came out into the road and was run over.
"He does not seem badly hurt. The ambulance service are checking him over and he's shocked but luckily it doesn't seem too bad."
It is thought the boy is aged nine or ten.
Liberal Democrat Cllr Hussain has been campaigning with parents for the council to install a crossing outside the school since March 2011.
He added: "This is exactly why we need a crossing and measures to make the road safer."
