A new local history book examining the lives of Buckhurst Hill’s first commuters has been published.
Grand Commuters by Lynn Jones of Ardmore Lane, Buckhurst Hill, details the history of the area’s leading families between 1860 and 1940, most of whom settled in Buckhurst Hill after rail links with London were established in 1856.
The book is priced at £4.50 and can be bought from Broomes Newsagents in Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill, local bookshops, or from the Loughton & District Historical Society at Forest Villa, Staples Rd, Loughton.
