Opinions are wanted on how councils should hand out emergency loans to people in crisis.
The Welfare Reform Act 2012 abolishes the current system of discretionary social fund grants and loans that are handed out by the Department for Work and Pensions.
This means community care grants and crisis loans will no longer exist.
Councils are now having to come up with their own schemes taking into consideration local needs and the cut in funding provided by the DWP.
Redbridge Council has devised its own Draft Redbridge Emergency Support Scheme and is asking for views from residents on the proposals.
To have your say on the proposals visit www.redbridge.gov.uk and search for social fund grant.
Comments should be received by February 1.
