Students have been honoured at an awards ceremony in recognition of their hard-work.

Leyton Sixth Form College in Essex Road held the event to celebrate those who earned top marks at A Level.

One particularly dedicated youngster, who was named as one of the college's students of the year, was 18-year-old Risham Saif, who is now studying Actuarial Science at the London School of Economics.

During her time at the college she achieved three A* and two A grades in economics, maths, extended project qualification, further maths and government and politics.

She said: "I am really thankful for such an amazing ceremony and grateful for being given the opportunity to catch up with my teachers and friends."
Leyton MP John Cryer helped to present the awards.

He said: "It was a privilege to be invited to the awards ceremony and meet so many exceptional students.

"The students are clearly an inspiration and illustrate that by hard work and dedication they can achieve great academic results and at the same time prove themselves to be fantastic role models for all young people in sixth form education."
