After the decision to introduce £83,000 worth of safety measures on a high accident road, residents in neighbouring streets are being consulted on the introduction of a one hour parking ban.

St Barnabas Road, between Broadmead Road and Snakes Lane East, in Woodford Green, has been the scene of five accidents in the last three years.

The road has an average of 2.78 accidents per kilometre per annum whilst the average for similar roads in Redbridge is 0.55.

Councillors at the Area Two Committee meeting in November agreed measures including flashing slow down signs, improved street lighting and increasing the waiting restrictions to 'at any time'.

And now residents in neighbouring roads Milkwell Gardens, Pintail Road and Spring Gardens are being asked for their opinion on extending the one hour parking ban during weekdays between 2pm to 3pm, after fears were raised about displaced parking.

Results of the consultation will be considered by councillors of the Area Two Committee.
