Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing has welcomed plans to resurface a road following a campaign by people living nearby.
Mrs Laing was presented with a 200-name petition by residents of Loughton Way in Buckhurst Hill who said that the vibrations caused by large vehicles driving on the damaged road was keeping them awake.
The MP and Valerie Metcalfe, a Conservative county councillor, took the case up with Essex County Council who have confirmed that ‘extensive resurfacing works’ will begin in February.
Mrs Laing said: “I welcome Essex County Council’s decision and praise Valerie Metcalfe for her persistence on behalf of the people she represents and on her success in getting this very difficult problem solved at last.”
Work between Hurst Road and River Road and the area of the junction with Blackmore Road will start by the end of next month.
