A 21-year-old Loughton girl has been crowned Miss Universe Essex after seeing off competition from all over the county.

Lauren Dawson, who entered the running after seeing an advert on Facebook, will now go forward to compete for the title of Miss Universe GB.

The glamorous girl, who is sponsored by her boss at Bar 15, Loughton, says that she could not be happier with her new title.

She said: “I’m really pleased with myself.

“I am a curvy girl and I was so nervous about doing the swimwear bit.”

Lauren earned her crown as she raised the most money for the charity which is associated with the annual Miss Universe Essex competition, Strongbones.

As a part of her new role as Miss Universe Essex, Lauren will now work as the face of the charity and will attend events throughout Essex, on their behalf.

The Essex based charity raises money to help children suffering with serious bones diseases to enjoy their childhood, by helping with the costs of equipment and providing a space for them to play safely.

She said: “Now that I have the title I will representing the charity at events like the opening of a new TOWIE bar, and trying to raise even more money.

“I have raised £490 so far and I am looking forward to helping them some more.”

The grand final will be held later in the year, when Lauren and the winners from two other categories will compete to be crowned Miss Universe GB.
