Business is booming in Redbridge, according to new figures released by the Office of National Statistics.

The numbers show an 11 per cent rise in the number of active businesses in the borough between 2009 and 2011.

The growth is above the UK average of 10.7 per cent and was hailed by the council’s cabinet member for Regeneration and Property, Thomas Chan.

He said: “We have great schools for potential staff and fantastic transport links that takes us straight into central London and east into Essex,  connecting stations to the Port of Felixstowe and the rest of East Anglia.

“We are also looking forward to the introduction of Crossrail in the borough which will further improve accessibility and act as a catalyst to promote investment and regeneration.”
