Plan for underground swimming pool in Woodford Green given go-ahead

Plans by a homeowner to build an underground swimming pool complete with a gym have been given the go-ahead, despite neighbours' objections.

Isabelle Honeyman of The Dell, Woodford Green, applied to the council for the extension.

Neighbours objected on the grounds that the extension on the already extended home would lead to further cases of overdevelopment.

They also raised concerns that there was a risk of seepage or flooding from the pool into neighbouring gardens if the drainage was not able to cope.

The decision to approve the pool was given on Wednesday at a meeting of the council's regional planning west committee.

Cllr Paul Canal said: "The objections that were raised can be addressed through strict building controls.

"We felt an underground swimming pool is not a visual intrusion to anyone."

Next door Nimby's at work again, jealous that they cannot keep up with the Jones'.

'Worried about seepage' what tosh!

I do not blame Mrs Honeywell for wanting her own pool and gym.

Better than bathing and mixing with the Great Unwashed Riff Raff at the local Pool.

As one of the great, though washed, riff raff who use a local pool, I'm truly glad you don't feel moved to join us.

With so much hatred for others seeping from every pore, you would pollute the water.

Yes, 'revolting creature' is not exactly a term of endearment in my eyes.

Have you seen how many people skip showering in public baths and the state of some feet?

No wonder the lady wants to build her own pool despite the jealous neighbours whinging.

There you go again.

In your bilious world, concerned residents have to be jealous whingers and NIMBYs.

One poster suggested last week that you were probably very intelligent but enjoyed goading and winding up other posters. In my book, constantly winding up other people with insults is not a demonstration of intelligence, but a sign of a warped personality.

You wonder why some of us feel moved to insult you? It's called "sauce for the gander".

Nothing is worse than seeing a toenail full of debris of old infecting a public pool or the stench of an unwashed Khyber pass.

If you can tolerate these things you are a better man than me Sir!
