A talented 11-year-old girl has won through to the semi-final of a TV dance competition.

Lauren Halil, 11, of Brandesbury Square, Woodford Bridge, is the youngest member of IMD street dance troupe, which is now hoping a public vote will hand them a place in the final of Sky's Got to Dance.

Lauren said: "It would be amazing if we won because it would give us the money to visit other countries where street dance isn't well known and showcase our talents.

"We would also be able to open our own dance school so us as young children would be able to do our own choreography and teach others.

"I love to dance because it gives me a way to let out all of my emotions and feelings.

Lauren has attended the Buckhurst Hill and Woodford School of dance since the age of four and in September gained a place at the The Sylvia Young Theatre School.

She has just finished a year spent as a member of the cast for the stage show of Roald Dahl's Matilda, playing Lavender and Alice.

Lauren's mum Marina, 56, said: "She absolutely loves it and doesn't view it as work.

"I am very proud of her and she is one happy child.

"I always tell her to just go out and enjoy herself, even if it is a competition."

The dance show is hosted by Davina McCall, with Ashley Banjo, Kimberly Wyatt and Aston Merrygold as judges.

The winning act receives £250,000.

The semi-finals of Sky's Got to Dance are being shown over the coming weeks on Sky 1.

IMD was founded by Omar Awuah, who choreographs all the routines and chooses the music.

"Omar is my inspiration," said Lauren.
