Boxers raise cash for Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green
Boxers did a knockout job raising cash for a children’s hospice at a charity fight night.
The pugilists from amateur clubs across the capital gathered at the Prince Regent Hotel in Chigwell for an evening of boxing in aid of Haven House hospice in Woodford Green.
There were 15 bouts at the event which was organised by the Lions Club for young people and attended by more than 200 people.
The fighters raised £4,500 for the hospice which helps children with life-limiting conditions.
Boxing trainer, Jimmy McDonnell, who lives in Woodford Green, also attended the event and gave out trophies on the night.
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of the hospice said: “Evenings like these are not only great social events for the local community, but provide vital funding for our work with local life-limited children.
“Our thanks go to The Lions Club for young people for organising this event and our event sponsor, Pertemps Medical Professionals.”
