A 32-year-old man has been arrested after a cash machine in Walthamstow High Street was tampered with.
Officers were called to the shopping district at 7.50pm on Monday February 4 after a member of the public got their card stuck in a device attached to an ATM.
Police examined CCTV in an attempt to discover who was responsible, leading them to arrest a man matching a description in the footage nearby at another cash point.
The 32-year-old was held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud but has now been bailed until March 4.
A Met spokeswoman said: "We would urge the public to be alert when using ATM machines.
"Run your hand around the machine to ensure no devices are attached and always cover your PIN.
"Please report anything suspicious to us."
