Police are appealing for information after a 23-year-old man was punched and kicked to the ground during a robbery.

The attack took place on Saturday at 5.30am as the man was walking down Golfe Road, Ilford.

He was punched in the head from behind and as he fell to the ground was kicked and punched by six suspects.

One of the suspects then demanded the young man hand over his money and other belongings.

The victim handed over his iPhone, a black Nano iPod, cash and a brown guitar with the image of a white Canadian flower near the strings, in a lime green guitar case.

The victim suffered bruising to his face, but required no medical attention.

After the attack, the six suspects who are described as black males and white males, ran off in the direction of Gordon Road.
