A COUPLE have been charged after police found a shotgun and a cannabis factory during a raid on their home.

Maranda Vassell, 32, and Calvin Stuart, 32, were arrested following the search of their property in Carnanton Road, Walthamstow, on Tuesday night.

They have now both been charged with possession of a firearm and cultivation of cannabis.

The pair are due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court today.

Officers from the Trident Gang Crime Command North East Proactive Team found a sawn-off pump action shotgun and 12 shotgun cartridges stashed in the roof of the house.

A large quantity of cash was also discovered hidden in a sofa while around 50 cannabis plants were growing in the garage.

It comes after the same anti-gangs unit raided ten homes in Waltham Forest on Wednesday February 6.

Four men and two teenagers were subsequently charged with drug offences.
