An exhibition of artwork exploring people’s relationship to the place they live has been officially opened.
The We Love Walthamstow display at The Mill community centre in Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, has 35 pieces of art from amateur and professional artists on show.
The exhibition was unveiled yesterday and organiser and curator Mo Gallattio said two pieces of work were sold almost immediately.
She added: “It went really well and the people who came to see it said how much they loved the art.
“The pieces show the artists’ personal relationships to Walthamstow. They demonstrated it is a very unusual place, it’s quirky and has a real sense of community which attracts people.
“I think art on display here should be either for the community or by the community, we just want people to be able to enjoy it.”
The free exhibition will run until March 24.
