A nursery has been judged good by Ofsted after improving on its previous satisfactory rating.

Twinkles Day Nursery in Colchester Road, Leyton, was praised for its good care of children, stimulating environment and close links with parents.

But inspectors said it could not be rated outstanding yet because "staff do not make the most of opportunities for children to pour their own drinks during meal times to encourage their independence".

They also said more natural resources for babies should be provided to help stimulate their curiosity.

The report stated: "Caring and enthusiastic staff use good teaching techniques to support children's independence.

"These have a positive impact on children's learning and development, so that children make good progress in their learning.

"Children enjoy learning through play and enter the nursery happily, eagerly choosing what they wish to do from the interesting and engaging experiences offered."

The privately-owned nursery opened in 1999 and currently has 27 toddlers on its roll aged between two and four.

Twinkles was previously rated satisfactory following an Ofsted report in January 2012.
