Keen photographers are being asked to get shutter-happy for a competition.

The contest is being held as part of the Love Loughton festival and is open to people of all ages who want to showcase the town.

The competition, called My Loughton, has three categories for adults – urban landscapes, green spaces and people – and an open group for children aged 12 and under.

Entries will be displayed at the Life Works centre at Loughton Methodist Church in High Road from April 8 and the winners will be shown as part of the festival’s fun day on April 13.

Photographs cost £1 each to enter and must be submitted in hard copy eight by 10 in prints mounted on card by March 28.

For more information and an entry form, email stephanie.lifeworks@loughtonmethodist.org.uk or call the church office on 020 8502 3071.

  • The Guardian is calling on everyone who likes taking photos and films to help showcase the best of what the area has to offer.

From stunning landscapes to scenes of everyday life, all subjects are welcome.

The best photos will be printed in the newspaper on the letters page, and the best videos will be shown on the front page of our website.

The Guardian’s Picture Editor Ken Mears and photographer Mark Soanes are also providing regular professional feedback.

This is an open group and we ask you not upload any images which could be considered offensive. Unsuitable images will be removed.

Please ensure your Flickr account contact details are up to date, as we will contact you before printing your photos in the newspaper.

You can upload pictures and video at www.flickr.com/groups/guardianseries
