A court hearing for three men who claim they were tortured after being arrested on suspicion of drug possession in Dubai has been postponed.

Grant Cameron and Karl Williams, both 25 and from Wanstead, and Suneet Jeerh, also 25 and from Ilford, have been in custody for seven months after being arrested while on holiday.

Dubai Police claimed a synthetic cannabis known as 'spice' was found in their car.

A spokeswoman for human rights charity Reprieve, which is representing the men, said a hearing due to take place on Thursday has been postponed until March 14 because prosecution witnesses failed to attend.

The three men have been returned to prison.

In a witness statement taken down by the charity's lawyer Marc Callcutt, Karl Williams described the torture which took place.

He said: "Once I had been knocked to the ground, the police picked me up and put me on the bed. They pulled down my trousers, spread my legs and started to electrocute my testicles. It was unbelievably painful. I was so scared."

The charity also claims that the three men signed documents in Arabic - a language which non of them understand.

MP for Wanstead John Cryer met with relatives of his constituents on Wednesday and said he would be making immediate representations to the Foreign Secretary.
