A comedy club is returning home after a row over security forced in to move.
The Wanstead Comedy Night has been exiled in Leytonstone since it fell out with the owners of its previous home, the Bar Room Bar in High Street, nine months ago.
The venue insisted organiser Jon Fentiman should pay £150 a night for bouncers, which he couldn't afford.
However, after an awkward stint at the now closed Babirchi restaurant in Leytonstone High Road, the club will hold nights at the rugby club in Nutter Lane.
He said: "Baburchi wasn’t the ideal venue. It wasn’t big enough and, as accommodating as the waiters were, it got very noisy in the restaurant, which was a distraction for the performers.
"Some of the audience members also felt obliged to buy a curry while they were watching, which when you’re looking for a cheap night out wasn’t great.
"Wanstead was a bit of a comedy wasteland before the night started in 2009, so we needed to bring the laughs back home."
The first of the monthly shows takes place on Thursday at 8.30pm and will feature Paul Sinah, Tom Goodliffe, Darius Davies and Tim Shishodia.
