A choir was part of a group of 600 singers whose charity single has gone on sale.

About 70 singers from the Epping branch of Funky Voices, which meets at the Lindsey Street Community Centre, headed to Colchester to record a version of Take That’s hit Relight My Fire in aid of Comic Relief.

Funky Voices groups from across Essex and Suffolk were bussed to the Mercury Theatre, where they recorded the song in just two takes.

Choir director Sandra Colston said: “It was a lot of hard work, but we felt we were doing something good as well.

“We recorded our fourth album at the same time and we were there from about 11am to 5pm, with a couple of breaks.

“There were a lot of laughs and giggles and they all said they were excited.”
