A multiple sclerosis charity managed to double its fundraising target at a lunch where Amy Winehouse’s mother became its patron.
MS Action in Billet Road, Walthamstow, had the lunch at Woodford Rugby Club in High Road, Woodford Green on Tuesday, when Janis Winehouse became patron, helping them raise £4,000.
Member Debbie Peacock said: “It was excellent, it was a really good day. Janis became our patron to big claps all round, it was very well received. It’s a very kind thing of her to do.”
Mrs Winehouse has suffered with MS for 30 years.
The charity is now getting ready for a bingo night on June 8 at its centre in Billet Road.
It starts at 7pm with entrance costing £1 and £5 for a bingo card.
