A man was knocked unconscious by a robber who stole his mobile phone.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the attack on the 31-year-old near Coronation Gardens in Buckingham Road, Leyton, on Wednesday April 17.

The assault occurred at about 7pm, when the robber, aged between 30 and 35, approched the man, punching him in the face - knocking him unconscious - before stealing his phone.

The next day the man reported the robbery to two PCSOs.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance with a black eye, broken collar bone and head injury, but has since been discharged after surgery.

Detective Constable Jon Ford said: “The victim sustained potentially serious injuries that required surgery in what appears to be a motiveless attack and we would urge anyone who knows the identity of the attacker to contact us."

Anyone with information about this incident can contact DC Ford on 020 3276 0971 or, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
