One of the district’s top tourist attractions has picked up an award for its environmental credentials.
More than four million people visit Epping Forest every year, and many of them drop in at The View in Rangers Road, Buckhurst Hill, which has been given the highest accreditation possible by the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
Judges said they were particularly impressed by the way that insulation, glazing and solar panels had slashed energy costs at the Corporation of London building.
Gordon Haines, the chairman of the corporation’s Epping Forest Committee said: “I’m very pleased that our efforts have been recognised, and we’re confident that this award will encourage even more visitors to this ancient woodland.”
