A serving MPS police officer has been convicted of making indecent photos of children.

PC Adam Holbrook, 29, based at Waltham Forest Borough, was fined £640 and ordered to pay £450 costs.

He has also been placed on the sex offenders register for five years after the hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday 17 May.

He previously pleaded not guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday 16 May of one count of making sixteen 'Level 1' indecent images of children.

He was arrested on 7 August 2012 by officers from the MPS Paedophile Unit and charged on 4 September 2012.

He remains suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.

The BBC is reporting that he had previously denied making 16 images of children in erotic poses.

PC Holbrook received a commendation in 2007 for his work on the investigation into the murder of Richie Holmes in Chingford.

Mr Holmes, 21, was shot dead in Greenham Crescent in 2005 and PC Holbrook was praised for his work at the scene along with nine other officers.
