A headteacher has praised former students who have just been awarded first class degrees.

Trinity Catholic High's Paul Doherty said he was delighted to hear of the success of the ex-pupils, who used to attend the school in Mornington Road, Woodford Green.

They include two graduates of Cambridge University who are both from Chingford - Natural Sciences student Matthew Bergin and Mathematics student Michael Bridges.

Buckhurst Hill Maths student Josh Roberts achieved an Upper Second Class degree from Cambridge while former Trinity Head Boy Martin Halligan, from Woodford Green, received a first in Electronic Engineering from the University of Exeter.

Dr Doherty said: “It’s always marvellous to learn about the achievements of those who spent some of their formative years here.

"What these young men have achieved is quite outstanding and we are all very proud of them.”
