Kicking racism out of East London, eight 5-a-side football teams took to the fields of Goals Chingford last Saturday under the slogan ‘We Are Against Racism.’
The tournament, hosted by Human Rights Focus charity aimed at promoting equality and diversity achieved through including female competitors and players from a host of races and religions.
Through a love of sport, 40 youths were united in their mission to eradicate racism from football.
Ellis Hamilton, 18, from the Human Rights Focus team said: “Racism is a downfall of football in today's society, hence why events that raise awareness are so important.”
He said with the sun on their side the day was a real success and that the event was full of passion.
The youth tournament is part of the national East End Synergy project, supported by the European Commission’s Youth in Action Programme and the British Council.
