The family of a murdered father-of-six are appealing for information about his killer as the third anniversary of his death approaches.

Wayne Powell, then 38, of Tottenham, was shot dead in Higham Station Avenue, Chingford, at around 11.10pm on July 5 2010 after getting out of his black BMW near a gym he regularly used.

Mr Powell, a keen DJ known as DJ Connoisseur who also worked as a customer assistant at Seven Sisters Tube station, was taken to hospital but pronounced dead the next day, leaving behind pregnant fiancée Anne Boriel and five children.

His killer is still at large.

Ms Boriel said today: “There’s a lot Wayne hasn’t got to be a part of.

“He would be a grandfather now, his daughter has a child who he never met, his son has graduated and is now a surveyor.”

Mr Powell also never met his son, also named Wayne, who is turning three in October.

Ms Boriel added: “It’s important to me to get closure on who killed him and why.

“Somebody out there knows something and I need a person to come forward.”

The gunman, who is believed to have been black, about 5ft 10ins and who was wearing a tracksuit at the time, ran off towards Coningsby Gardens. He is believed to have used a handgun to carry out the attack.

Ms Boriel, who will lay flowers and light candles with friends and family on Friday at the spot Mr Powell was shot, said they will carry out the ritual until they get justice.

She added that she wants to jog the memories of people who live in the area to remind them of the event.
