A woman escaped from her flat when it caught fire this morning.
The blaze broke out in the apartment above a shop in Eastern Avenue, near the Gants Hill roundabout, just before 7am.
She managed to get out of the building before fire crews arrived and was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.
Fire-fighters brought the blaze under control by 7.35am.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: "We sent two fire engines from Ilford, so there were around ten fire-fighters and officers.
"Part of the flat was damaged but it was only a small fire".
Police also attended the scene to manage traffic by the scene of the blaze.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
