A 12-year-old boy suffered serious chest injuries when he was impaled on a metal railing last night.
It is thought that the youngster slipped while climbing over the fence at 6.40pm in Heathfield Park Drive, near King George Hospital in Goodmayes.
He was rushed to the Royal London Hospital by an ambulance crew.
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service told the Guardian that the boy was "conscious and breathing" when staff arrived at the scene.
His current condition has not been released.
