A church was decked out in colourful blooms for its flower festival.
The show was held at St Alban’s church in Coopersale and included a garland over the main entrance to welcome visitors and arrangements based on events held at the church throughout the year, such as remembrance and harvest thanksgiving.
Children from Coopersale and Theydon Garnon Primary School helped create an arrangement celebrating Mothers’ Day and attended the opening of the festival at the church in Houblons Hill.
The Brickfield Road school’s head teacher, Sarah Miller said: “It was lovely for the children, having taken part in providing flowers for the festival, to then see it in place.
“We are involved in all the major festivals at the church and use it as often as we can.”
The ministed in charge of the church, the Rev Robert Taylor, said: “We had a steady stream of visitors throughout the three days of the festival, including a lot of people from within the village and some from elsewhere.
“They visited the church gardens afterwards, where there were refreshments and garden stalls.
“We’re not sure how much we raised for church funds yet, but it was up on two years ago, when the weather was horrible.”
