People enjoying the summer sunshine can expect the warm weather to last for the rest of the week and weekend.

Waltham Forest residents have been out in force over the last week, determined to enjoy the heat while it lasts in a year in which snow continued to fall until April.

Families have relaxed in Lloyd Park, Walthamstow, enjoying the colourful array of flowers and plants in full bloom while others have cooled off in the fountains of Wood Street Plaza.

People have enjoyed picnics and pub gardens as everyone looks to take advantage of the warm weather, but despite traditional British pessimism the heat is expected to last until at least Sunday.

The temperature should stay around 23C until Saturday, when it shoots up to 27C with bright, clear skies, with 25C predicted for Sunday, which will still remain partly sunny with some cloud coverage.
