Event organisers in the district are behind a festival being held in the Queen’s back garden to celebrate 60 years since the Coronation.

Media 10, which is based in Loughton High Road and staged the Duke of Essex Polo Trophy near Epping until this year, is organising the four day event, which is set to include evening concerts with singers such as Russell Watson and Katherine Jenkins, fashion and technology exhibitions and food stalls.

The show, which opens this afternoon, will give companies with the Royal Warrant, which have supplied goods to the households of the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh or Prince of Wales for five or more years, a chance to show off their wares.

Lee Newton, chief executive of Media 10, said: “We’ve got 200 exhibitors, which we’ve had to put up stands for. About 800 lorries have arrived, bringing products and infrastructure.

“There’s a fantastic stage on the back of Buckhingham Palace. It’s pretty much on the Queen’s patio.

“There’s a catwalk where the models come out of a forest and a single storey house made completely out of mirrors.”

The company won the contract for organising the show about 18 months ago and Mr Newton said nearly all its 200 workers had played a part in it over the past few weeks.

“It’s quite nice to have won this contract,” he added.
