Carbon monoxide did not play a role in the death of a man, a coroner has ruled.

The body of David Beattie, 55, was discovered on January 2 this year in Amwell Court, Waltham Abbey, where he lived alone.

His employers had raised the alarm.

He was found in bed and a post mortem revealed he had suffered heart failure.

His inquest was halted in May, as his family feared carbon monoxide could have contributed to his death.

But the verdict was recorded as natural causes after the inquest was resumed last month.
