The Tour de France competition is set to pass through Epping from Cambridge in July 2014
Tour de France will be passing through Epping next summer and the council is set on making the most of the event, it was announced last night.
The annual bicycle race will start in Yorkshire on July 5 2014 before competitors pedal their way down to the capital from Cambridge two days later.
The cycle route is yet to be confirmed but it is said to include Epping New Road, Woodford and the Olympic Stadium.
Elizabeth Webster, councillor and leisure and wellbeing portfolio holder, said: "Obviously we want to do everything to benefit the public and the whole of Epping Forest."
The competition is planned to pass through on July 7, which is the same date the Olympic torch was carried through Waltham Abbey in 2012.
