Six students from Chigwell school will be heading to Oxbridge next year.

The amount of A* grades achieved at the school, in High Road, Chigwell, was over double the national average and nearly half of all grades achieved by the students were either  A* or A .

Callum Fleming achieved four A* grades and will be studying engineering at Cambridge University, and Luthien Liu will also be attending the university to study natural sciences having achieved five A* grades.

Rachel Maton will be studying history at Oxford with a choral scholarship while her twin Jessica will be at Cambridge studying classics.

Oliver Albert also won a choral scholarship to study engineering at Cambridge, while Qinning Lou's results confirmed her place studying maths at Oxford.

Headmaster Michael Punt said: “We are naturally very proud when students achieve results of the highest level, but we are also delighted when individuals work really hard, fulfil their particular potential and achieve the goals that they have set themselves.

“Many of the students celebrating today have contributed a huge amount to the life of Chigwell in a whole variety of areas.

“We wish them every success and happiness for the future, and look forward to hearing about all that they achieve in their lives beyond school.”
