Willowfield Humanities College posts 10 per cent improvement on last year's grades
The trend of improved GCSE results in Waltham Forest has continued, with Willowfield Humanities College joining the growing list of schools reporting improved pass rates.
The school in Clifton Avenue, Walthamstow, saw 55 per cent of students achieve five or more A* to C grades including English and maths, a 10 per cent improvement on last year.
Head Boy Daniel Walsh lead the pack with 12 A*s and As, while several others achieved ten or more top grades.
Head Teacher John Hemingway said: “Given all the talk in the press about the changes to GCSE exams that are making the core subjects harder this is a fantastic achievement by our Year 11 students who have worked really hard and been extremely well supported by their teachers.
“The exceptional results of many of our most able students would stand comparison with any school in the country, but we are also proud of the fact that for the third year running every single young person at Willowfield leaves us with at least five GCSE passes to their name.
“It all goes to show that in our local schools all children and young people are able to achieve.”
