Visitors to Ongar cemetery warned over dog fouling
Dogs could be banned from a cemetery if owners don’t deal with the problem of fouling.
In response to grass areas in Ongar Cemetery being littered with dog mess, notices have been put up warning visitors to look after their pets responsibly.
And Ongar Town Council has said it will consider a ban if the situation does not improve.
Council vice chairman, Cllr Brian Surtees, said: “It would be a great shame if legitimate users and visitors to the cemetery were punished for the actions of an inconsiderate few.
“The cemetery is a consecrated place and relatives deserve to have it treated with the respect it merits.”
