Gigs round-up (week of September 5 to September 12)
The multi-talented Damian Clarke headlines Loughton Folk Club on Thursday (September 5).
This folk-roots singer plays a variety of instruments including the hammer dulcimer, hurdy gurdy and guitar.
Entrance to the show, at the Loughton Club in Station Road, is £3.
Doors open at 8pm.
Walthamstow Folk Club returns from its summer break with a performance by Irish group the London Lasses on Sunday (September 8).
The gig, at Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub in Hoe Street, is part of the annual Stow Festival.
Tickets cost £8 on the door, or £6 for concessions.
It's from 7.30pm.
Acclaimed Texas singer-songwriter Katy Moffatt plays the same pub on Monday (September 9).
Ms Moffatt plays country, roots and Americana music and is popping to east London as part of her world tour.
The show starts around 8.15pm and costs £8.
Waltham Abbey Folk Club has a singaround jam night on Monday (September 9).
It's at the Royal British Legion building in Brooker Road.
Entry is £2 and it starts at 8.30pm.
The Penny Black Remedy take to the stage at The Crown pub in Leytonstone on Wednesday September 11.
The band, which has been together since 2007, perform high-octane Americana fused with punk, folk and ska.
Support comes from Les Saules Pleureurs.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this act sings in both French and English, performing a mixture of good time Cajun music, country and swing.
The show, at the pub in the High Road, kicks off at 8pm.
There's no charge but punters are encouraged to give donations to the musicians.
Garage rock band The Ladykillers gig at The Square in Harlow on Friday (September 6).
Also on the bill is “glamtastic” pop-rock group Jonny Cola and The A Grades, along with rockers Los Pepes.
It costs £6, or £5 for members, with doors at 8pm.
