A performing arts college is moving from its north London home to Waltham Abbey as it enters a new era.

North London Dance Studio (NLDS) will be known as DNA Studios after vacating its Winchmore Hill address in favour of the more spacious Royal Gun Powder Mills premises in Beaulieu Drive four weeks ago.

The new venue will host workshops for students aged 16 and over with industry professionals from TV talent shows such as Xfactor and The Voice, as well as productions such as We Will Rock You.

College director Keeley Malone  said: “We are all enjoying the green space here, it's very inspiring.”

“We are looking to expand but want to keep our small hands on feel.”

“DNA is a good name because if you are a performer it’s in your DNA. We also tell our students ‘do nothing average’, so that could be it too.”

Students at the college receive tuition on a variety of aspects performing arts, from drama and singing to choreographer.

The pupils will then showcase their talents in various productions over the coming months, including a charity pantomime.

Many of the alumni of the college go on to careers in the industry, with some teaching and others performing alongside big names as dancers.

And tutors have worked alongside stars such as Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Pixie Lott.
There are also plans to open a school for children aged three and over from October.

Ms Malone said the college were keen to make the most of their space, so would be hiring out the studio for community use.

The official opening of the college will take place on September 13th.
