Mother-of-three says she is desperate to move
A mother of three young children is desperate to move from her home of ten years after the stabbing of two boys.
The teenagers were attacked in Burwell Road, Leyton, at 8.45pm yesterday.
The two boys, aged 16 and 17, were treated at the scene by an off duty Accident & Emergency medic before being taken to hospital.
Police are now searching for five people they suspect were involved in the incident, which is believed to have started outside the Esso garage at the junction of Belvedere Road and Lea Bridge Road.
Carla Butcher, 33, of neighbouring Sanderstead Road, believes the area has deteriorated in the last few years and she fears for the safety of her three children.
“I’ve noticed it’s gone really downhill. You can’t even have your kids out," she said.
“I’ve seen people doing cocaine outside my house, I’ve seen needles, my fence has been burnt down and I’ve had people climbing into my garden.
“It’s just not safe.
“I’d go anywhere away from this area.”
Mrs Butcher, who is expecting her fourth child, suspects the incident last night involved drugs, which she says is a big problem in the area.
“They start them quite young round here," she said.
“I’ve had a ten-year-old coming to my door smoking a joint and I don’t want that for my kids.
A 41-year-old mother of two, who did not want to be named over fears for the safety of her family, saw one of the victims walking around with two stab wounds.
She said: “I would say it was a drug related incident.
“When you walk down the road you see them sitting in cars and you can smell it and you know what they’re up to.”
“It’s getting worse round here.
“I’m not leaving the house without my car anymore.”
The police have released descriptions of three of the five men they are looking for in connection with the stabbing.
The first is described as as black, 5ft 7ins, of slim build and wearing all dark clothing and a hoodie.
The second is Asian male, also about 5ft 7ins, of slim build and wearing a dark long-sleeved top with a white pattern.
The third is just described as white 5ft 7ins and of slim build.
